Moto to Revive MIG (in a big way :)

sup punks. just thought yall like to hear the latest. moto has FINALLY got his shit together. i know its been a long fuqin time. i have made the final decision to do it myself. what is "it" you may ask. well ITs a long story. ill try to keep it short, tho im not usually good at that

IT is the future home of MIG. Cyber, Paul and myself had grand plans for an unbelievable online presence for MIG long ago. We all worked hard to make it happen, but for various reasons, it just never got finished. The black forum layout i built early this year was to start the ground work for a user database that would be used in the uber site. I added massive security to keep it super clean till the dbase was ported to the new site. However, with personal issues we all had irl, things just got bogged down to a near standstill.

Well that shit has changed FINALLY! I have scrapped the old database. Yes, that means yet another new start. I know it sux, but watcha gonna do. Reason for scrapping is the decision to move from invision power board to vbulletin, as the core of the forums.

Dont think the new home is just a forum site tho. Far from it. We all bit off a bit more than we could chew back in the day as far as web programming was concerned. The new home incorporates pretty much every form of modern web coding there is: java, flash, actionscript, php, sql, etc. Its core is based on a couple awesome components: vbulletin and nuke evolution.

There is still a ton of work ahead of me, but the good part is, its just me. Yer lovely moto has taken on the entire task of construction of the new home. This is a daunting task, but one that I can finally put forth the resources to accomplish in a reasonable time period. The other major advantage of one person doing everything, is future upgrades, fixes, addons, etc. In the past, no one person ever completely understood everything, which made it very difficult to recover from crashes, make upgrades, or add new features. We wont have this problem anymore.

The other really awesome thing is because we've taken so freakin long to get going on this project hardcore, it has given the industry time to develop truely amazing and relatively easily implemented features. The combination of the current vbulletin core, along with prefab amazing multi framed flash framed objects makes for an awesome ground to start the build. You guys are gonna seriously flip out when you see all the features now available with the integration of the new nuke evo core.

All of this techno crap all leads up to one awesome outcome for MIG. Finally, a world class awesome home on cyberspace for all our current and future miggers. Yall know im a raging nuttcase, but I know im not alone in the feeling of emptiness without a real home online with my friends. The old plain jane forum homes are ok for simple gaming clans, but MIG has never been a simple gaming clan. We are, and will always be an international crew of great friends who just happen to hang out in virtual space most of the time instead of the local basketball court.

This announcement is a bit premature, as i have just recently begun major work on this new home. It will take some time, and I will not launch it before it is complete. I can not give an estimated completion date at the moment, hopefully i will have that in a week or so. In anycase, i will continue to post progress updates in this thread.

In the meantime, I would ask that all the remaining diehards start hunting down some old faces, as well as new blood. I finally got myself a kickass gaming rig, and highspeed net access to chill w/ my homies cross da big rock. I've shot it up with ace and metal last few days in bf2. I also picked up the entire series of command 'n conquer, starcraft, as well as the entire battlefield series.

The other really cool thing, is I finally went ahead and ordered a dedicated gaming server. It is currently being setup with over a half dozen game servers, with virtually unlimited slots. We will now have ranked bf2 and bf2142 servers, as well as a 1942, special forces, euro, source, tribes vengeance, tribes 2, tribes 1, and perma teamspeak and vent servers.

Currently, I am funding this all myself, and will continue to do so probably till beginning to mid next year. At that time, our new home will have been launched for awhile, and our crew will have expanded to the point where it can make sense to employ a donation system to recoup some of the investments, and continue the monthly costs of running a world class gaming community home.

I love you all for the friendship and dedication yall have all shared. Im really friggin happy to finally be able to do this for such an awesome group of friends. I'm sure that once launched, the new home will bring back many of the old faces we've all been missing, as well as attract many new cool punks 'n hopefully a few fembots.

lil update i mentioned i was taking on this huge task alone. although i am capable of doing it, and getting it done in a fairly reasonable time period, i have made one more attempt at obtaining assistance. i have requested quotes from numerous web design teams throughout the world, with limited success, due to complexity or pricing. but i have not given up hope. i have again detailed the project, and requested quote from one of the worlds most highly respected design teams to assist in the entire design process. if they accept the project, and i can afford their rate, our new mig home will finally be a reality in 6-8 weeks! keep yall fingers crossed

update supreme! as unbelievable as it may seem, the EXACT design i wanted implemented for the main section of the site has already been done! someone must have beat me to the idea. i must have been to well over 2,000 sites, searching what seemed like the whole fuckin internet to find this beast i fuckin rule. so ya, things are slick as shit now, and relatively simple to get started. if all goes well, i should be able to get this shit on the road in a couple weeks or so. awesome.

ya, its like that. only instead of hitting that stage in mid 20s, i hit that stage when i poped my slimy ass outta my mothers kooch. and instead marriage, it has been an unequaled in all the world connection to everyone else in the world, through the only medium that made it possible, the internet. pretty much as soon as this baby hit stores in the early 90s, i think i was directed by a higher power or some shit to make this shit happen. i ran uber best bbs and chat servers back in the day before windows, i was host to one of the worlds largest pirate group distros all through college, as well as clan leader for prob well over a dozen clans.

after college, i continued this nutter connection to the world through my gaming clans. but shortly after starting professional career, i sorta let things slip off, as do most at this age. but rather than be content with the fond memorys of my childhood and college days, i became quite wound up, with the insaine desire to do it all again, but this time in style. i wanted to use my experience as a long time clan leader and basicly internet nuttcase to pursuade the world gaming communities that gaming clans need not only just be strictly for mere gaming, but rather a portal to something much deeper, and better.

gaming clans are just one good reason to build these online community gathering places that prompt multi layer interaction to fellow peeps around the world like no other way. this post is already draging on long enough, so ill save the emo speech for a later date regarding this topic. but its deep bros, deep.

i seen this, and it MADE my new sub-consious lyfe goal to make this shit a reality. i admit, i was a bit overwhelmed at first, not having the web programming skills necessary to build world class cyber homes. i made a few clan pages in past, but nothing that could trump the worlds leaders.

that all changed when i hooked up with cyber. tho my dedication to our parent ARC and its leader KopyKat combined with my untimly moving back to the mainland from hawaii that took me offline for a couple weeks, prompted him NOT to invite me into the circle of desenters who rebelled and spawend the new cyber lifeform who they aptly named MIG. I admit, at first i was quite pissed at cyber for having riped the clan to shreads, leaving nothing but a smoldering shitpile. man was i pissed. me 'n kopy both, tho he has a calmer mind than moto.

but i didnt just leave cyber in the dust, or him me... whatever.. we kept in contact, mended our wounds, and i soon realized exactly what he was attempting to do, to build a whole new type of gaming community with the sole purpose to create a place on net peep can feel at home, regardless of what game they play, and build true friendships. this of course appealed to me very strongly, as it was my dream goal too, so i at once jumped ship, or what was left of it, and hooked up with Cybers MIG Crew, and started the famed BF2 branch I went lookin for some uber cool doods to build the core, and found paul and stain, two excellant peep, on net and irl. MIG IS a success, as we are all still good friends. It took a real change in clan structure to make this happen, but we did it. But this is just the begining folks

Tho our views on actually HOW to manage to make this miracle of a clan evolve into something never before done in its power to bring people together based on their common hobby of gaming, but hold them together with the honest, true, and strong friendship bonds that would form from the result of the new clan concept. Cybers idea, (somewhat) obvious from the meaning of the initial M.I.G. (Multi-Internet Gaming Crew), he invisoned a new type of clan that has indeed been done before with some success. That is a clan of clans. He would build up membership directly to mig, similar to any other gaming clan, based on ingame skill, and new membership independantly controlled by branch leaders. Then he would open the clan to partner clans who would use the same forums, website, and game servers to hang out and play.

This was an honorable and well meaning method, but seeing as how both of us had the same goal of something different, something that would bring people together on a level much deeper than mere gaming, and keep them together... this concept of the structure of MIG was flawed, as it continued to use the old ideas of basing membership on the games themselves, and breaking everyone up into seperate branches and sub clans. I wanted something different, something that, from what i am aware of, has never been done before. I wanted to create MIG in the form of a true cyber home sweet home to cool similar minded peeps round the world, with the desire, or at least willingness to give this new idea a try.

We infact did manage to do this, as is quite aparent by the fact that even after nearly a year without direct leadership, our core is still relatively intact, and members still consider each other good friends, even if they have drifted off to other clans to support thier gaming habbit.

This relative success, has been burning in the back of my mind for ages. I KNEW what i had to do. I HAD to go forward and complete what i set out to do long ago, which was to build a truely meraclous one of a kind, world class, feature ladened, luxiorous cyber home for my beloved MIG Crew.

Well, as you all know, shitty irl personal issues kept this from becoming a reality for a long time. That, plus technical challenges a bit beyond any of our core members programming skills.

That has all changed now. I am not only back on track, but actually to a point now that is it completion is nearly inevetable. An update from last post, I finally did manage to get ahold of and convince a VERY Talented (imo, worlds best) web designer and programmer to assist me thoughout the creation process of this amazing home. I know you guys may think that such a thing is somewhat unnecessary, but nothing could be further than the truth. I dont have time to go into it atm, as this thing is already rediclously long, and im gonna b late for work, just trust me on this, its important.

with the combination of the worlds best cyber home to an online gaming community, coupled with one of the worlds fastest dedicated game servers, capable of pretty much anything our hearts desire, MIG will once again, rise from the ashes, and flourish in a way it never has before. and instead of allowing layoffs, or hard times to affect the financials of the crew, in terms of servers 'n such, i have made it a plan to drop massive loads of cash whenever i can, to pay upfront for multiple years of service. i hate money and what it stands for, but i do like my toys 'n such, so ya ill be recouping this a bit with a donation system. but i will NEVER let money stand between anyone and mig membership. fuck money.

Man, i wish all this was done a while ago.. like before last season started. I kinda doubt we'll string back together enough players to make season 8. Maybe it can all be ready in time for season 9 though.
